· Introduction ·
After so many post and a lot of information about it on the web and our platform we think is a good idea to make compile of it and create a small but complete guide divided by specific points and of course with advises on how to be successful working from home
1. Set clear goals and priorities:
Let’s talk about thins. You have to put your goals in paper and your priorities in order. The easiest way is to make a small list and on the go you will be able to fill the blank spaces.
Remember our first goal AND priority working from home should always be: 1.- Freedom.
One of the keys to staying motivated and focused is to have a clear sense of what you want to accomplish. Take some time to set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals for your work, and prioritize your tasks based on their importance and deadline.
Use FREE applications so you can take your goals and priorities everywhere and add or edit them whenever you need to.
2. Create a routine:
We will never get tired of saying this, but working from home is not a vacation and should never be an easiest, more comfortable or less demanding working space. Working from Home only means you change the time you get to the office, how you decorated it, what you eat or what you hear. But don’t forget… It’s Work.
Having a consistent routine can help you stay focused and on track. Consider setting specific times for work tasks, breaks, and self-care activities, and try to stick to a consistent schedule as much as possible. Bath, getting dress, exercise or free time. You have to be consistent.
3. Find a comfortable and functional workspace:
Your workspace can have a big impact on your motivation and productivity. Make sure your workspace is comfortable, well-lit, and free of distractions. Consider investing in ergonomic furniture and equipment to help you work more comfortably.
How to Set Up a Home Office for Maximum Efficiency, this is really important at the beginning. Once you accomplished your productivity goal from home, you’ll be able to star moving to the next step how to work from anywhere.
This is a really complicated step. The more you feel you control your environment the easiest will be to stay focused and motivated.
4. Take breaks:
Really risky but necessary. You need to be conscious that you should not take more breaks at home that the ones you are use to take at work, but remember that living in the office can make you work for more hours without noticing it.
So taking regular breaks can help you stay energized and focused. Step away from your computer and take a walk, stretch, or do some deep breathing to clear your mind. You might also consider trying a mindfulness or meditation practice to help you stay centered and focused like this or that.
The best recommendation we have is from the famous book “The 5 am Club”:
- Work the first 90 minutes of your day during 90 days, without stopping focusing on the most important and complicated thing you have or want to do and then take a 10 minute break.
- After that divide the rest of your day in 50 minute sessions with 10 minutes breaks in between for the rest of your day. Each 50 minutes should be only on one subject. You can have mane 50 minutes sessions about the same subject but not two subjects in one sesión. If you finish too quick, then stop for 5 to the minutes and star a new 50 minutes session on the next subject but no back to back.
5. Stay connected:
Working from home can be isolating, and it’s important to stay connected with your colleagues, team, boss, friends and family. Everything on the right time. Use online tools like video conferencing and messaging to stay in touch and collaborate with your team.
Try Business Communication softwares to separate your work and personal calls and keep track of them.
Create spaces to get in touch with people through the day and also during your breaks maybe call someone who can help you get distracted a little bid.
6. Get dressed:
It´s tempting to work in your pajamas all day when you’re working from home, but after 2 o 3 days you will feel miserable . Trust me. Getting dressed can help you feel more productive and professional.
Dressing for work can also help you get into the right mindset for focused work.
Remember to dress according to you job but always thinking that you are ready to receive anyone at any moment work or not related.
7. Use tools to stay organized:
There are many tools that can help you stay organized and on track when working from home.
Technology is your best friend but never underestimated the power of a good agenda.
Consider using a FREE project management tool like ClickUp to keep track of tasks and deadlines, or a time tracking tool like Toggl to monitor your productivity.
8. Eliminate distractions:
Distractions can be a major productivity killer when you’re working from home. Make an effort to eliminate as many distractions as possible, such as turning off your phone or silencing notifications on your computer. Get away from things that are tempting like a fridge or a TV.
The most important thing here is to make a list. You have to create a list of all the distractions that you can find or imagine, write why they distract you and what is your normal habit associated with it.
9. Stay motivated:
It’s important to stay motivated when working from home, and there are many ways to do this. Surround yourself with positive and inspiring people and materials, set small rewards for yourself when you accomplish tasks, and remind yourself of your goals and why you’re working.
Let me give you a good tip. Once you create your goals and priority list, take some time to divide each one in 3 or 4 steps and put a price on each one. It can be a sweeter, a chocolate, new shoes or a new cell phone, hey it can even be a new car, that’s your call. The point here is to reward yourself for every step you take no matter how small.
Important TIP: Try to make at least half of your rewards mind stimulating. Talking a walk, read a book listen music or anything you can think of. This will motivate you. Trust Me. Not every reward has to cost money.
· Conclusion ·
Staying motivated and focused when working from home requires some effort and planning. It’s not enough to follow a guide. You have to see what this can mean to you and really create something that will get you to our final destination. Freedom.
