· Introduction ·
When we ask ourselves whether or not we should take the children?, we do not mean leaving them in someone’s care while we enjoy a vacation without them. What we really want is to help you decide the type of vacation you are going to have but always with your family.
What?
Yes, what we want is to explore the different types of vacations that you will be able to enjoy as a family, splitting them into two very simple categories:
- Children’s holidays
- Non-child holidays.
Of course, the most important thing is that the whole family enjoys the trip, but in the end and just as an introductory example, the family can go to Disney or it can go to Paris, in both cases everyone can enjoy it if we do it correctly.
· Motivation ·
People believe that vacations exist for the purpose of resting or disconnecting from the routine, but that is not the reality. Holidays, although they help us to disconnect from the routine, they also help us to learn, experiment and have new experiences. In the end we believe that part of our happiness is based on the experiences we have and since we cannot leave everything and go on a trip around the world, we must take advantage of the small moments in which we can do it and that is where vacations come in.
Many times as parents or guardians of minors, whether they are babies, children, or teenagers, we waste our vacations always thinking only of them. Of course, this does not mean that you have to ignore them, but sometimes we must also think that the idea of vacations is that they are for the whole family and not just for some.
If we have young children and decide to go to Disney, the reality is that we will return more tired than when we left and although the happiness of the children is important, it is not always the best decision to ignore the needs of the other members of the family, and this starts to get worse when we have children of different ages with different tastes and needs.
· Then what do you propose? ·
When we search for family trips on Google, most of the time we always find these posts that mention the 10, 15 or even 20 perfect places to vacation with the family around the world, in Europe, in the USA and more, right?
The problem with these pages is, that they are only influenced by places where a member of the family can enjoy or even have some type of specific attraction, but they do not think about the needs of everyone else.
Of course, it will not be easy to find many options that have a different appeal for each member, such as the cruises that we will talk about later, but in the end, it is not correct to start proposing places without really addressing the most basic question:
What kind of vacation do we need?
So, we are not going to mention the best places for each thing, we can gladly recommend some posts depending on the type of vacation you choose where you can find several places with which we agree, but if we mention here a place for each type of vacation, then we would have a post with more than 100 options that would not really help you to have the excellent experience you are looking for.
We are going to help you find out what type of vacation you need and once you choose it, we will talk about the options we have and we will give you tools so that you can choose the final destination yourself.
· Types? ·
Normally nobody asks us how many we are, ages, tastes, degree of activity and more what we are looking for in a vacation, that is why we always find the same or the same places but without a clear idea of what to do.
We believe that whenever we are looking for a vacation, the first thing we should look for is what type of vacation we want, but before you misunderstand us, we are not referring to cruises, roadtrips and so on. Those are more destinations than types of vacations.
So how do we choose what type of vacation we want and what does that have to do with children?
It is very simple, first we have to ask ourselves the following questions:
- We want rest or activity
- Rest, we want heat, cold or warm
- Activity, family, individual, exercise or entertainment
- We want for children or only friendly to children
- We want it to be in one place or in several destinations
- We want it to be educational or just recreational
And once we get those simple 4 answers, then we will be able to create a formula that helps us have a vacation that is an unforgettable experience for the whole family.
· Let the fun begin ·
Whenever we choose a vacation we have to consider first, before the destination, transportation or any other decision, the level of activity we want to have on said vacation. Depending on that you will be able to formulate options and based on the other 3 questions we can decide what we want to do. Once we know what we want to do, the destination and other things will be very easy to choose.
Well, what are my options?
When we ask ourselves if we want rest or activity, here we should really think of a scale rather than a black and white answer. We can have vacations with a lot of physical activity such as skiing, climbing, hiking or we can have vacations with a moderate level of activity such as visiting a city, museums, historical places or amusement parks, also we can even have places of light rest such as forests and beaches, or, we can have places of total rest such as an all-inclusive hotel with a pool for children where we can relax all day.
After we decide the level activity that we want to have in the vacation, we will begin to have several options.
At the end of the questions we will present you with some tables with many options to choose from, depending on your answer to each question, but for now we will focus on the type of vacation your family needs.
The next question is the simplest from our point of view.
When you have decided your activity level, for example a moderate activity level, then you can choose if you want something for children such as an amusement park like Disney or a destination that has many places where children can learn and have fun such as zoos and kids museums or if what you want is a place that is friendly with children but not made specifically for them, such as tours of a city, knowing the pyramids of Egypt or even a road trip.
What’s next?
This will depend on your budget on one hand, but it will also depend on the first destination on the other.
It is easy to say I want to go to many places or to say that I prefer to stay in one place, but if, following the previous example, we decide to go to a city that is famous for having the best children’s museum, but it is the only thing in that city , then perhaps it would be worth considering more locations. Here later we will see that we can have options such as roadtrips or trips through Europe where it is easy and fast to change cities without having to suffer with mobilizing the whole family through an airport.
And then?
To finish we will decide if the purpose of the trip is to know or just have fun. Don’t spin around in your head with this question, just imagine if you asked your young children what they learned on the vacation, what would their answer be? If their answer is the name of a new animal or how a culture follows its traditions or even the height of a building, then you are looking for something educational, but if instead you are going to ski, go on a cruise, discover landscapes, forests, hike or have fun in the pool, then you really prefer something more recreational.
Important: The family has to have fun and have new experiences that are not always educational, doing only educational trips is bad for everyone’s growth and rest.
· What are my options ·
Our purpose is to help you find activities that really meet the expectations of most family members. In the end as parents, guardians or organizers, it is not always going to be easy to please everyone and sometimes we will have to sacrifice what some want to do for others.
In other words, one day you will have to take your children to an amusement park even if you always want to rest on the beach.
In any case and as promised, below we will propose some ideas depending on your answers and we will also recommend pages where you can find exactly what you are looking for.

It’s all a matter of first planning what we are looking for and then later we see the options, never the other way around as all the other Posts recommend.
In any case, if you are interested in a specific trip, you can fill out the following FORM and we will send you specific recommendations based on your choices.
Finally, as you will see, we constantly recommend all-inclusive cruises and hotels, since in most cases, these two options are the ones that can cover more points at the same time if we know how to choose the destination well.
